The Main Characters
RAMADA: From birth to becoming a mother herself, the bullied and neglected, creative and intelligent Ramada, struggles with self hatred and destructive behavior while she escapes into visions of dance. The conflicted gap between reality and fantasy grows as fast as her teenage body and she runs away on a journey throughout the world with a variety of more and less fortunate encounters.
Mr. LIMBO is Ramada’s imaginary, dancing friend, loyally following her into her escapes of dance fantasies. He always pays tribute to history’s iconic clowns and entertainment figures. And he looks mysteriously like Falco.
FALCO is the charming magician and mental illusionist, tricking people for good and for bad, living carefree as a hustling dancer until he meets Ramada and things get tricky.
The great Derren Brown is suggested to be invited to collaborate on the illusionist and magic trick.

The Spin Offs
The Theme
Salute is first of all a story about tolerance of gender, accompanied by tolerance of creed, orientation, disabilities, appearances and race.
Both in direct ways in the narration and in indirect ways in the production, casting, soundtrack, dancing, set design and wardrobe.
Tolerance as in "the ability and willingness to accept something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with" and, as in "the action of bearing hardship, or the ability to bear pain and hardship" - hence the need not to tolerate inequality, abuse, oppression and discrimination.
Salute also addresses the conflict of tolerance towards oneself through self- destructive behaviors, substance abuse and eating disorders.
No real brands of alcohol or cigarettes will be showed in the film.
Finally, Salute is a story about illusions versus reality and the sometimes conflicted, yet mutually dependent relationship between facts and fantasy.
It is about turning problems into SALUTogenic (constructive) solutions, using our innate abilities and needs to connect with others in order to evolve beyond discrimination, social indifference and vicious cycles.

The girls & women
“When women are objectified, there’s always the threat of sexual violence, there’s always intimidation, there’s always the possibility of danger. And women live in a world defined by that threat.”
Jean Kilbourne
Sexual objectification, stereotyping and pacification of girls and women through sexism and harassment in the culture and in the media is a main theme of the story, however it is also accompanied in direct and indirect ways by further themes of the different ways discrimination of women, misogyny and gender related crimes occur. Salute seeks to inspire a worldwide audience on these crucial and universal issues of how we see, portray and treat women and girls, which again, in so many ways, affect the larger political, financial, environmental and social challenges of our world.
The Media
Large parts of the media, advertisement and entertainment industries often undermine gender equality and parity. They often sideline, devalue and objectify girls and women. These parts of the media foster hyper-sexual, demeaning and passive stereotypes of girls and women. And increasingly very young girls are sexualized. This contributes to more dangerous attitude sand acts to wards women and girls, which again these parts of the media tend to also normalize and trivialize. This part of the media also creates a culture of physical insecurities, obsessive thinness and unrealistic beauty ideals causing girls’ self esteem to plummet when they reach adolescence and leaving them more prone to eating disorders and depression. This is watched daily by girl sand women - and, just as importantly, by boys and men - around the world, influencing our minds, relationships, cultures and politics. Oscar winning actress and producer Geena Davis' Institute of Gender in Media (GDIGM) points out the importance for media and entertainment to be both on par with reality as well as a positive force for female empowerment and equality in the real world.
The Research
A 2012 study, commissioned by the Geena Davis Institute On Gender In Media, and completed by researchers at the University of Southern California, examined gender roles in popular media: Girls/Women are sidelined and underrepresented, greatly outnumbered by males in speaking roles and particularly leading roles. Even in family films and "crowd scenes" women are highly underrepresented by 17% and the strong negative ratio has been the same since 1946.
Girls/Women are sexualized and objectified. They serve most often simply as "eye-candy". Girls/Women are also mostly portrayed with unrealistic figures and looks (photoshop etc) and even in family films girls tend to wear as sexually revealing outfits as in X-rated films.
Girls/Women are sidelined and stereotyped. Rarely depicted as working within medical science, in law, politics, business and particularly upper level occupations. Approx. 80% of the characters that have jobs are men, contrary to real world statistics where women comprise of 50% of the workforce.
Girls/Women are mostly depicted as "unmotivated" and even unintelligent. They tend to only have aspirations of a romantic nature ("getting prince charming").
Girls/Women are underrepresented, 5 to 1, behind camera as producers, directors, writers and any of the key crew positions and fewer women get the "green light" for their projects at studios.

The Social Media
"The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won, than by the stories it loves and believes in"
H. Goddard

Meme Shake Productions
A meme - as compared to a gene and coined by Professor Richard Dawkins (Oxford, UK) - is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture. As universal means of communication, uniting and strengthening us as human beings; art, music and dance from all corners of the world are essential parts of the story of Salute.
Producing movies that don't "tell people what to think", but with the goal of inspiring people to "shake up their memes", to hopefully reevaluate what values and ideas we have; what is healthy, safe and productive, what we share and how we best can work together.
